Preparing for Meditation
Start by taking a comfortable seat on the floor or a chair, using any necessary support. Align your hips, heart, and crown in one line, and rest your hands on your legs. Close your eyes, turning your awareness inwardly. Listen to your breath, without trying to alter it, and notice your body and surroundings.
Moving Through the Chakras
1. **Root Chakra (Muladhara):** Focus on the base of your spine, imagining the color red—a wheel centered in your pelvis representing the earth element. With each breath, fuel this fiery red energy.
2. **Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana):** Move your hands between your navel and pubic bone. Envisioning the vibrant color orange, breathe deeply to amplify power and vibrancy here. This chakra is connected to the water element.
3. **Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura):** Place your hands below the rib cage, concentrating on the color yellow and the fire element. This center is your personal power hub. Each breath reinforces your strength and stability.
4. **Heart Chakra (Anahata):** Position hands at your heart, perceiving the color green. This chakra, related to air, balances love and compassion. Breathe fully, opening both the front and back of your heart.
5. **Throat Chakra (Vishuddha):** Imagine a turquoise hue, resonating with the space element, strengthening your communication and self-expression abilities.
6. **Third Eye Chakra (Ajna):** Lightly touch your forehead, concentrating on space and the color indigo. This chakra, like others below, connects front and back, amplifying insight and intuition.
7. **Crown Chakra (Sahasrara):** Rest hands lightly on your head, visualizing space, represented by violet or sometimes white. The crown chakra opens above, linking you to your divine self.
Completing the Practice
Bring your hands together above your head, aligning your fingers, and then gradually move through all chakras, completing the exercise with your hands at your heart center. Breathe deeply, rotating your neck to release tension, and pay homage to your divine and human selves.
